Field Recording, Experimental Sound and Electronics Workshop / Oct 19th

$75.00

Oct 19th, 9am - 4pm
Instructor: Nathan Ober
Fees: $75 (includes materials)

With the simple act of listening we learn new ways of empathizing with our environment, neighbors, and even ourselves. Starting with a group listening tour of our local desert landscape, participants will discover what it means to tap into the unperceived and unexpected sounds around us, and discuss how what we hear shapes and shifts our perception of the world. Learn about the fundamentals of sound as both a physical phenomena (physical vibrations) and perceptual phenomena (our cognition of these vibrations), using custom transducer microphones to record vibrations not ordinarily heard by the human ear. In this single day all ages workshop, participants will learn basic soldering techniques to build their own contact microphones in order to capture quality field recordings anywhere.

Disability accommodations: please send an email to info@yvml.org to inquire about accommodations.

Cancellation Policy: The last day to receive a full refund for a workshop is one month prior to the start of the class. Workshop fees can be used as credit for another class until 14 days before the start of the workshop. After that, there are no refunds. There are no exceptions to this including personal and job related issues (sickness included). The only way to receive a cash refund past the one month deadline is for the student to find someone to take their spot. YVML will also do its best to promote!
