$650.00

9am - 4pm each day
Instructor: Chris Collins
Fees: $650 no experience required, metal not included

In this five day introductory workshop on foundry casting students will make a wax model that will be cast in bronze or aluminum. Techniques covered include wax work, ceramic shell slurry molds, metal casting and finishing. After the wax model is made, students will make ceramic shell molds, the wax will be burned out and bronze or aluminum ingots will be melted and poured directly into the mold. We will also go over the steps to cut off and grind any sprues or air vents, and how finish/polish and patina the final castings.

Disability accommodations: please send an email to info@yvml.org to inquire about disability accommodations.

Cancellation Policy: The last day to receive a full refund for a workshop is one month prior to the start of the class. Workshop fees can be used as credit for another class until 14 days before the start of the workshop. After that, there are no refunds. There are no exceptions to this including personal and job related issues (sickness included). The only way to receive a cash refund past the one month deadline is for the student to find someone to take their spot. YVML will also do its best to promote the open spot.
